Mary Geneva Peterson AKA Thorpe 1914 - 2011

Mary Peterson passed away at her daughter and son-in-law Ruth and Jerry Gamblinshome in Bella Vista on Tuesday February 22, 2011. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on November 28, 1914 to Joseph Francis Stahr and Louisa Belle Wickel Stahr. She was the 7th of 10 children, 5 boys and 5 girls. She is survived by two sisters, Louise Gustafson and Margaret Swalberg of Salt Lake City, Utah. All her brothers have preceded her in death, Theodore Stahr, Richard Stahr, Howard Stahr, Eugene Stahr and Kenneth Stahr.

Sisters Josephine Stahr and Norma Garvin also preceded her in death. Mary, also known as Eva, married Shelton Kenneth Peterson in May 31, 1935 and they are the parents of 6 children. Joyce Clark of Sunnyvale, CA, Ruth Gamblin of Bella Vista, CA, Owen Peterson of So. Jordan, Utah, John Peterson of Madera, CA, Craig Peterson of Aptos, CA and Sylvia Leavitt of Elma, Washington. When Ken passed away in 1970 she later married Harold Thorpe II in March 28 1980 and was married to him for 23 years until he passed away in 2004. She is the grandmother of 26 and great grandmother to 47, and great great grandmother to 8. Mary has lived in California since 1940 and in Bella Vista with her daughter Ruth and her husband Jerry since 1995. Spike was born on July 12, 1930 in Bonne Terre, Missouri to Leo and Carolyn Boehle. He and his family moved to Redding, CA in 1945. He attended Shasta High School, married Marjorie Downing and began his career in the automotive aftermarket by going to work for Auto Accessories Company. In 1963 Spike bought his first store, Taylor Auto Parts in Anderson. He eventually owned eleven NAPA Auto Parts Stores in Northern California. In 1969 he moved to Anderson, CA. He and Nancy were married in 1970. They lived in Anderson for 35 years, before retiring to Tucson, AZ. Spike served his country by serving twenty years in the California National Guard retiring with the rank of Captain. Spike served as president of many organizations including Anderson Rotary, California Automotive Wholesalers Association, and Riverview Golf and Country Club. He also served on NAPA Auto Parts National Advisory Board, the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association Board of Directors, and on the Board of Directors for Redding Medical Center. Spike was an avid golfer, hunter, baseball player, and traveler. He loved his and Nancyshouse on the Mendocino Coast and diving for abalone. He was also known to enjoy a glass of fine wine and a good cigar. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Boehle of Tucson, AZ. Children: Greg Boehle (Denise), Mark Boehle (Jan), Pamela Boehle- Silva (Dennis), Cori Post, grandchildren: Bradley Boehle, Kelly Devine (Andrew), Kali and Christian Boehle-Silva, Christopher, Steven and David Brodnik, great grandchildren Cameron and Isabella Boehle, Broderick Devine, sister JoAnn Matheson (Doyle). He is preceded in death by his parents: Carolyn and Leo Boehle, step-father Robert Irwin. Daughter Kelly Post. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served the country in World War II as a military Officer. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 55 years, Donna Saunders, son Ken Saunders, daughter Linda Saunders, and his granddaughter Amber Scott, all of Redding, CA. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He leaves us with many awesome memories of his fun, light hearted personality. He was a kind, good hearted man. Janet passed away peacefully with her family at her side. Janet was born on November 26, 1961inLosAngeles,CA.She graduatedfromMercyHigh School in Red Bluff, CA in 1979. After attending Shasta College for two years, Janet graduated from Chico State University with a major in psychology. While working at Northern Valley Catholic Social Services for the last 20 years, she was able to complete her mastersdegree in social work. Janet was appreciated by her clients, respected by her colleagues, and loved by her family. She married the love of her life, Mike Guzman, and together they raised threewonderfulyoungmen - Brandon, Nick, and Jeff. Janet is survived by her parents, Robert and Vi Snider, her husband Mike, and sons Brandon, Nick, and Jeff. She is also survived by her siblings: John Snider (Mary),BetsyBurger(Richard), Randy Snider, Rita Peters (John), Kevin Snider (Brenda), Robert Snider, Jim Snider (Debbie), Mary Jo Boyle (Bob), Steve Snider (Gina), and numerous nieces and nephews.
